Hey guys, as you know I wont be in class tomorrow, this is just a reminder for stuf to do.
It would be great if you could do the stop motion for a page getting scrunched up.
It would also be great if you could do some more random rips, just for use in the storyboard thingo to use as transitions between screens.
Annie should have some paper textures scanned in, so if you could apply those to some of the scenes it would also be great, but It isn't necessary, i could prob do it myself. Umm, other than that maybe make a start on the presentation pdf?

Wednesdays work

We managed to run into a lot of technical difficulties on Wednesday, especially in regards to the damn video camera. However we managed to get through that.
As far as progress goes we have a logo we are happy with, its a bitmap image and will sit as a watermark at 100% opacity in the top left of the screen, we wanted to look into finishing the animation for it, which will look awesome imo, but had some problems with the video camera (it ran out of battery). We also got some mock ups of the super done, although the quality isn't exactly all that great. So we might have to do it frame by frame, or just use the sample we have as an example to show the teachers how it will flow.
Hopefully craig booked out the bluescreen room (its not a greenscreen but blue apparently, so don't wear blue jeans tomo) but im guessing he hasn't. He did seem pretty sure it was empty on a friday though.
other than that we need to get our promo done tomorrow, the over the shoulder graphic (someone bring some coloured pencils!) and some mock up storyboards for the infocus, 60 seconds and all that junk.
If theres anything im missing just post it in the comments.
Oh and if annie could bring her slr that would be wonderful, it might be a bit better for doing stop motion stuff compared to a little digital cam but if its too much effort just bring the digital I guess.

Brilliant!
I've just had a brilliant idea on how to get a lot of our motion out of the way. It has a lot of potential to look really really awful, but even more potential to work perfectly!
If Annie could bring her video camera on monday we can try out some experiments. I basically want to mount the video cam on the light box in the media arts room, then we get some green coloured paper or card and (trying not to get our fingers in the way) physically tear that. As long as its all green/ another colour, and the tear is white we can simply edit out that.
This could be used for our supers, some transitions and potentially even the logo. Any thoughts?

wakawaka
Hey guys, as far as I know it stands sorta like this to be done tomorrow.
Everyone:
- further thinking on uowtv concept, overall aesthetic and style
- further research to be gathered and posted on the blog
Andrew:
- Experiment with sketches, drawings and typeface
- Scanning in textures etc
Bill:
- Looking into the logo itself with the ripped edge instead of the jagged edge
- Possibly look at colours?
Annie:
- Develop moodboard of aesthetic of UOWTV to refine tomorrow
- Look at storyboarding worlds etc and supers
Here are some links as more research:
SBS aboriginal in between show graphic ad thing i like it

Docherty - in particular the 2nd video, now this isn't handddrawn but it shows an example of vector graphics mixing with photographic image stuff
There are a lot of different "worlds" created in this Antstv motion reel
And just confirming tomorrows meeting at 12:30 in 162 computer labs reading to lay down some concepts mofo!
Fridays meet-up
Hey fellas, what was it again that we wanted for tomorrows meeting? some rough sketches and concepts?
In unrelated news the ending credits to yesman interested me. Quite a different style than what we want (its all spraypaint based) but i found the linework and constant sense of movement to be a bit relevant to what we wanted for our 'world'.

some references
Some handdrawn research:
Noah Shulman (http://www.noahshulman.com/)
his work for all time low in particular but also others uses very handdrawn techniques.

Here is a random site with handdrawn posters
could be alright to use as inspiration or a reference?
